Preparing for and understanding transesophageal echocardiography

The transesophageal approach to cardiac echocardiography has expanded the ability of this (almost) noninvasive method of evaluating and diagnosing certain types of cardiovascular pathology. Its use can be expected to increase as echocardiographers become skilled in endoscopy and new applications are discovered.
